History: His mother raised him in a mountain cabin. There was a wharf not far from home where he often wandered off to fish. He has built up a small fortune and can afford his own way.

History: Hugh lived on a farm with his father, near the main road leading to a nearby town. He was one of the best in his class, and was picked up by his current employer. He quickly showed his capability and was soon promoted to a head role. He has been saving his money to try and buy his brother's freedom.

Motivation: Doesn't want to be a Carter and was forced into it by his family.

History: Born in the south to a Mason, Godfrey learned a great deal about his mother's area of expertise. His father was supposedly a charlatan fortune teller, but he insists his father was legitimate. He has worked as a Mason like his mother before him.

Motivation: He is compelled to act according to his religious beliefs; and sabotage a competitor
