- Good characters try to do things for the benefit of others, even if it means causing misfortune for themselves.
- Evil characters try to do things for the benefit of themselves, or may delight in causing misfortune to others.
- Neutral characters avoid taking an extreme stance on things, either preferring a mix of both or avoiding choosing at all. They can be neutral in the Lawful vs Chaotic spectrum, the Good vs Evil spectrum, or both (True Neutral).
