History: Sold as a small child to a wizard, Rolf was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. He was married off to the eldest child of a minor noble. His spouse died of illness and he inherited everything. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.

A notion that was reinforced by his attractiveness, a trait in which he easily excels the other men of his town. He hasn't been sleeping well lately.

The gnolls captured him, and made him a slave and general play-thing. He was beaten and tortured regularly, leading to his deformed appearance. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to gnolls demanding more tribute than usual.

Motivation: He wants revenge against gnolls; and his name or reputation has been wronged in the past by gnolls, and he desires to right it
