Motivation: His religion dominates his actions; and his name or reputation has been wronged in the past by brigands, and he desires to right it

History: He was born to loving parents in a slum to the north. From there he went from mercenary job to mercenary job. Recently a tribe of drow attacked the village and all able bodies who could hold a blade were quickly armed and sent to the walls.
