History: Trained by his father for as long as he can remember he had it drilled in his head that it was his duty to serve his country. Because his father participated in the massacre of their homeland, orcs burned their ranch to the ground and forced them out. He was preparing to flee to the south, but the outbreak of war prevented him and his mother from journeying south to reunite his family. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

History: Sold as a small child to a wizard, Conrad was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. A serious injury left his father unemployed and in need of constant care. His family became saddled with debt trying to care for his infirm father. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to gnolls demanding more tribute than usual.

Personality: He likes to make people angry or surprised. As long as the job gets done he does not care how it got done.

History: Gerard lived on a farm with his father, near the main road leading to a nearby town. He was part of a huge silver rush, which was taken over by a mining company. The company confiscated a lot of silver, but the shipment was lost. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.
