He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to gnolls demanding more tribute than usual.

History: He was born blind and as such lacked many opportunities for work. Cursed with vampirism at a very young age, Jocelyn has worked very hard to control his curse. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Some 8 years later his spouse died after the birth of his son. Heartbroken, Adelard never married again. Instead he focused his life to raising his son whom he trained as his father had trained him before.
