He did not win them back, but he came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. Since then, he has sought to make the best of life.

History: The child of western immigrants he idolized his mother. Through the years after Adelard was born, his mother became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the west. Adelard's mother didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. He left for the west, certain he would find work there.

Motivation: His name or reputation has been wronged in the past by brigands, and he desires to right it; and he possesses a valuable artifact that the thieves guild wishes to steal
