History: He was raised in a white middle class family as the only child. A serious injury left his father unemployed and in need of constant care. His family became saddled with debt trying to care for his infirm father. Unlike his family, who was content to work in a sleepy main town, he wanted to work in the city. He has been working here for the past few years.

Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by giants. Roland was horrified and prayed that his father was alright. However, he heard that his father had died fighting off the giants.
