Perhaps he's slightly insane, or otherwise so mentally alien to the rest of the world that he plain doesn't fit in. He routinely visits covens of witches but complains that many are fraudulent and lack true knowledge of magic.

History: He was born to loving parents in a slum to the west. A gypsy cursed him at a young age, leading to his ugly appearance. He tends to his Roofer job now, and dutifully fulfills any obligations he has.

Under his leadership it has flourished, and using capital from his venture he effectively owns an entire region. After a long history of fighting, Hugh and his spouse have recently divorced.
