Personality: He hates dire rats. He views them as having robbed his home of its proper glory. His brief stint in the army gave him the idea he was invincible and that he is the toughest man alive.

History: Sold as a small child to a wizard, Lewis was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. He couldn't stand his childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with his mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. Some 10 years later his spouse died after the birth of his daughter. Heartbroken, Lewis never married again. Instead he focused his life to raising his daughter whom he trained as his father had trained him before.

He refers to his adoptive father for almost all things he is unsure about, which are numerous. He is very much still a child and has not developed a drive for self-dependency.

History: From birth he was tutored by a cruel and relentless mentor. Cursed with unlife at a very young age, Bernard has worked very hard to control his curse. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.
