When his spouse passed he lost his only source of income but claims to his sons to still be retired.

History: He was raised happily, as a normal child born to his mother and father. His mother taught him the rudiments of the Butcher arts, while his father instructed him in etiquette, music and courtly manner. He was taken from his home at a very young age. Since then, he has sought to make the best of life.

History: Sold as a small child to a slaver, Gilbert was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. He couldn't stand his childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with his mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. He eventually got the idea of being the protector of his homeland from reading books, and has made it his duty.
