Personality: He is a man who does what he needs to. He will acquiesce to black mail and extortion to avoid trouble. He is a logical person and will generally grow upset if things defy logic and science.

History: His father raised him in a mountain cabin. His parents died when he was young, and he was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Bertram grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Bertram. Recently he has begun working with bootleggers and crooks.

History: When he was but 6 years old his parents immigrated from the west. He was married off to the eldest child of a minor noble. His spouse died of illness and he inherited everything. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.
