Aside from being a slave or a gladiator, there isn't much legitimate work for Humans in Percival's homeland. Percival decided to take the middle way and become a bodyguard. Motivation: He's looking for his big break; and he made a deal with a demon which lead to his current lot in life, and he's becoming increasingly nervous about it
