History: He was born to loving parents in a slum to the north. Through the years after Bernard was born, his father became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the north. Bernard's father didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. When his spouse passed he lost his only source of income but claims to his sons to still be retired.

Motivation: Balancing his hectic life and new Mercenary responsibilities is difficult; and his name or reputation has been wronged in the past by illithids, and he desires to right it
