He was working during a period of war, and as one of the natives he lived in fear of joining the others in being slaughtered. He saw the brutality and swore off his fighting aspirations, taking his younger brother on his back after seeing his parents die, and fled the country. He has drifted from career to career and currently works as a Knight.

History: He was born to a wealthy landowner in a frontier town, living a normal and happy childhood. From there he went from mercenary job to mercenary job. During his travels, Lance and his party rested in a cavern that was (unknown to them) infused with powerful dark magic. Upon awakening, Lance discovered the rest of his party dead, transformed into horrible, mindless undead versions of their former selves. Lance fled the cavern, stopping for breath at a small pool, and only then realizing his own horrible transformation.
