History: A powerful wizard made him what he is. His mother had invested heavily in several trade routes and wanted him to inherit them. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.

Personality: While he acts the brute, he is far gentler than he would appear. He claims to be unscrupulous but at the end of the day he will do what he thinks is right.

History: Raised by wardens he was only a novice when dire rats swooped upon their monastery and killed most of the order. In his 12th year, his parents were killed by a dire rats raid, leaving Gilbert alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by dire rats. Gilbert was horrified and prayed that his father was alright. However, he heard that his father had died fighting off the dire rats.
