History: Sold as a small child to a slaver, Roland was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. His family was being driven out of business by several neighboring competitors. The mother sought out extralegal help and others began closing their doors. He saw this and took pride in his mother's willingness to do anything to win. He now mingles about in high society.

History: His history is one of pain. He was disowned by both parents and raised among the slaves his parents kept. His mother was a soldier and died while he was still young. Roland was left his mother's suit of armor and trained in its use and care. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Motivation: To share knowledge with the world; and he has comitted a past crime that haunts him to this day
