His father taught him the rudiments of the Carter arts, while his mother instructed him in etiquette, music and courtly manner. His childhood dream was to be a Fortune-teller, but he was a colossal failure. He has set out to sabotage the competition.

His uncle (a powerful person with enemies on both sides of the law) took him in and had him trained in basic self defense. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Motivation: He feels that his past leaves him morally obligated to help; and he has decided he is irredeemable
