He did not win them back, but he came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Personality: He resents people who mock his appearance or him, so he has learned to be the meanest son of a gun. He spends most of his days drinking in the Inn, the rowdiest and most dangerous establishment in town. There he gambles, wrestles and listens to stories told by travelers.

History: His history is one of pain. He was disowned by both parents and raised among the slaves his parents kept. He was an adventurer many years ago and he formed a blood bond with his Human companion (his 'brother'). He has gone from town to town working and never settling down anywhere, but has fallen for a local Sculptor. He hasn't told them the truth, but wants to settle down with them.

He was regularly beaten by his father, who blamed him for driving them apart. He is untrained/undisciplined, which makes him dangerous.

Personality: He barks his statements quickly and with little fuss. He prefers small words and is at his heart utilitarian. As long as the job gets done he does not care how it got done.

History: He was born several months after his father was called into army service. He graduated from the Naval Academy and went to see the world at the rank of Ensign. He advanced relatively quickly due to his good work ethic, understanding of the chain of command, and natural leadership ability. Lacking all sense, he decided to go on an adventure. He picked a direction and started trekking.
