History: Sold as a small child to a slaver, Richard was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. His childhood dream was to be a Locksmith, but he was a colossal failure. He then took over the family business and is one of the better Ruler for hire.

History: Bertram lived on a farm with his father, near the main road leading to a nearby town.
