History: Sold as a small child to a slaver, Gunter was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. His parents divorced when he was young, and his mother gained full cudstody. He was regularly beaten by his mother, who blamed him for driving them apart. After a long history of fighting, Gunter and his spouse have recently divorced.

Personality: He is irascible and easily irritated. He enjoys reading and quiet.

History: Raised by wardens he was only a novice when brigands swooped upon their monastery and killed most of the order. He was an athlete and attended two major summer competitions. He never won. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to brigands demanding more tribute than usual.

Motivation: His name or reputation has been wronged in the past by brigands, and he desires to right it; and wants to work out more often

History: Born the oldest of a large religious eastern family, he was no stranger to responsibility. He made a point of taking high paying jobs and getting most of it up front. He has dedicated himself to building a better village for his children.

Motivation: He wants to meet his childhood hero.

Personality: He is business-like. He takes instructions and follows them to the letter. He is a ruthless business man, a trait he acquired from his mother.

History: Trained by his mother for as long as he can remember he had it drilled in his head that it was his duty to serve his country. Since his mother passed away years ago, his father had doted on him, and he came to think her himself as special and better than other people in town. A notion that was reinforced by his attractiveness, a trait in which he easily excels the other men of his town. He now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.

Motivation: Retire the richest man in the east; and he wants nothing more than to rejoin the army
