History: He was born the only child of a wealthy merchant. Because his father participated in the massacre of their homeland, gnolls burned their ranch to the ground and forced them out. He was preparing to flee to the north, but the outbreak of war prevented him and his mother from journeying north to reunite his family. He moves from town to town, unable to find a place to settle.

Personality: He is a man who does what he needs to. He will acquiesce to black mail and extortion to avoid trouble. Any perceived weakness will be pressed and exploited. He is seen as merciless and passionate.

History: Born in the south to a Performer, Roland learned a great deal about his mother's area of expertise. His parents died when he was young, and he was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Roland grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Roland. He left for the south, certain he would find work there.
