When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.

History: He was born the only child of a wealthy merchant. There was a wharf not far from home where he often wandered off to fish. He now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.

Personality: He hates gnolls. He views them as having robbed his home of its proper glory. He loves his children and doesn't want them to worry about him. He loves to share his poetry with anyone who is interested.

History: Raymond was born into a poor family. Growing up, he dreamt of becoming a Fighter, to bring honor to his family’s name. When he came of age, he applied for a position with his town's local guard, looking to work his way up via merit and eventually become a Fighter in service of a powerful lord somewhere. His first spouse was a Painter, they had one son, but his spouse won total custody. Without his spouse to temper him he grew out of control. He has drifted apart from his friends and has been working freelance. Each gave each other a copy of their signature shortspear.

Motivation: To unite with his sister; and to reunite with his old friends

Personality: He fancies himself a trickster and likes to rely on his wits to carry the day. He cares for his older siblings and likes to be recognized by them. He moves from fascination to fascination almost instantaneously. If something can keep his interest for a month it is impressive.

History: He was a bastard born out of an affair, and his father always resented and mistreated him for it out of spite. His first spouse was a Carter, they had one daughter, but his spouse won total custody. Without his spouse to temper him he grew out of control. He's also a talented Carter, but doesn't like to broadcast it.

Motivation: An old rival family wants him found; and to unite with his sister

Personality: A deeply religious man he believes everything happens for a reason. He spends most of his days drinking in the Inn, the rowdiest and most dangerous establishment in town. There he gambles, wrestles and listens to stories told by travelers.

History: He was born to a pair of big game hunters, but was frequently ill as a child. He moved out west to avoid the crime he committed. He spent several years traveling with his friend, before both settled down to enjoy the fruits of their adventures.

Motivation: Money/treasure; and obtaining odd cultural human artifacts is his passion
