History: He was always a brilliant, if unscrupulous mind. His parents were killed by dire rats in a raid when he was still a young child. The dire rats captured him, and made him a slave and general play-thing. He was beaten and tortured regularly, leading to his deformed appearance. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.

He was a general practitioner in the east for years, until he, through no fault of his own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal he made his way north. He has been a successful dealer in antiques buying low and selling high.

History: Born in the east to a Performer, Bernard learned a great deal about his father's area of expertise. He helped his father out around the business and became quite the natural. He was granted martial powers by his dying sister.

Motivation: He doesn't get along with people that don't share his tastes; and balancing his hectic life and new performer responsibilities is difficult
