History: John hails from a village terrorized by illithids. He was part of a huge silver rush, which was taken over by a mining company. The company confiscated a lot of silver, but the shipment was lost. He has dedicated himself to building a better village for his children.

Motivation: He desires power and/or immortality; and he's looking for his big break

History: He comes from a rich southern family. He found a children's book about a Human Fighter who fought for good and justice and never realised it was just a child's story. He modeled his life after the story, seeing himself destined a hero. He spent several years traveling with his friend, before both settled down to enjoy the fruits of their adventures.

Motivation: Meet up once more with his childhood friend; and he wants to meet his childhood hero

To get what you want from life, you must take it. He used his abilities to trick people and travel the world for free.
