History: Born to a pair of adventurers, William grew up listening to his father's many stories. In his 14th year, his parents were killed by a gnolls raid, leaving William alone in the world. When money was particularly tight he was walking through alleys when he overheard a Spice Merchant hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. He made his way to the other competitor and parlayed his knowledge into a job. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.

Motivation: His name or reputation has been wronged in the past by dire rats, and he desires to right it; and many dire rats want him driven away
