He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to brigands demanding more tribute than usual.

History: Charles was born to in a poor docking district. He spent his early days working in the same smith shop his mother was employed at, doing general labor. When money was particularly tight he was walking through alleys when he overheard a Bather hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. He made his way to the other competitor and parlayed his knowledge into a job. He routinely visits covens of witches but complains that many are fraudulent and lack true knowledge of magic.

History: Raised by wardens he was only a novice when drow swooped upon their monastery and killed most of the order. Motivation: Doesn't want to be a Gardener and was forced into it by his family; and marry his brother to traveling adventurers
