History: Hugh lived on a farm with his father, near the main road leading to a nearby town. His father worked until he suffered an accident while they were digging through a hill for a new route. He had to support his now crippled father and took his father's old job. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

The man easily evaded and defeated him, leaving him to live broken and terrified. He left for the east, certain he would find work there.

History: Gomory was raised in a hard working conservative environment. When he came of age, he joined a caravan that would eventually take him to the capital.
