History: The child of southern immigrants he idolized his father. Through the years after Gerald was born, his father became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the south. Gerald's father didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. He left for the south, certain he would find work there.

History: He served in the navy to pay for his family's outstanding loans. While studying, he fell in love. They married and had a daughter. Some 4 years later his spouse died after the birth of his daughter. Heartbroken, Ernest never married again.
