He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

History: He grew up in a lower middle class home, but living comfortably wasn't enough. At a young age he wooed the heart of his future spouse and the two had a long relationship before they wed. Some 10 years later his spouse died after the birth of his son. Heartbroken, Geoffrey never married again.
