History: He was born in the north. When he came of age, he joined a caravan that would eventually take him to the capital. He would practice along the way and, when he arrived, be apprenticed to a Merchant. He became a Merchant soon after.

History: Sold as a small child to a slaver, Cory was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. Cory was born on a far southern island where he grew up under the tutelage of his father, an expert Scribe. He moves from town to town, unable to find a place to settle.

Description: A man with a warm, jovial air about him, he wears a shirt that is too small, which lets his gut show, with a ratty blue coat over it. His hair is brown and curly. His thin eyebrows rest above his beady amber eyes.

Personality: He tends to agree with only himself unless someone else's opinion sounds like he can profit from it. He tries to control his temper but he can't always stop himself from what he feels what must be done. As he has aged he has sought to do reparations for his actions as a youth. He is also making sure that his compatriots who never received punishment for their crimes are brought to justice.

History: His history is one of pain. He was disowned by both parents and raised among the slaves his parents kept. Through the years after Richard was born, his father became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the west. Richard's father didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. After a long history of fighting, Richard and his spouse have recently divorced.

Motivation: He is currently in port desperately looking for someone to get him out.

Personality: He runs his personal life as if detached from it. He organizes appointments and outings based on perceived benefits he will get from it. He loves being with his children and actually smiles when they are around. He would do anything for them. He dislikes his ex a great deal.

History: He comes from a rich western family. Ernest liked to wander the woods near his home when he was young, something he still likes to do at least once a week. He never liked modest clothing or shoes, so he would wander the woods barefoot and lightly dressed, and he developed a good sense of balance and learned how to climb and swim well. By chance he met his sister recently and the two have been together since.

Personality: He considers himself a man of culture and sophistication. He likes a good challenge to his wits. He is a great chef.

History: Dean lived on a farm with his mother, near the main road leading to a nearby town. He worked as a nervous Layabout and found it very stressful. He has set out to sabotage the competition.

Motivation: His spouse's relatives view him with great suspicion.
