He never liked modest clothing or shoes, so he would wander the woods barefoot and lightly dressed, and he developed a good sense of balance and learned how to climb and swim well. The mother sought out extralegal help and others began closing their doors. He saw this and took pride in his mother's willingness to do anything to win. He used his abilities to trick people and travel the world for free.

Motivation: He feels that his past leaves him morally obligated to help; and he is being blackmailed/forced/etc and this influences his actions
