He made his way to the other competitor and parlayed his knowledge into a job. He was granted divine powers by his dying brother.

History: He grew up in a lower middle class home, but living comfortably wasn't enough. He moved from fad to fad and when he turned 15 he discovered writing. He has never given up on his writing dream.

Personality: A skeptical and narcissistic man, Manfred's first love is himself. His second love is also himself. He cannot deal with unfamiliar people for more than a few minutes at a time and if they persist he will grow angry at them.

History: Manfred lived on a farm with his father, near the main road leading to a nearby town. Being born in the east, he completed his medical training abroad so as to avoid the war. He returned after the war having achieved medical proficiency. He was a general practitioner in the east for years, until he, through no fault of his own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal he made his way west. He's since become an addict/alcoholic.

Motivation: To reunite with his absent father; and his spouse's relatives view him with great suspicion

Personality: He exudes charisma. He is a tour de force of persuasion. He always tries to repair and not replace. It was this mentality that drove him into the Dyer business.

History: The child of western immigrants he idolized his mother. Shane was born on a far western desert where he grew up under the tutelage of his mother, an expert Dyer. He ran away from his former home and has been making his living as a Dyer for the past few years.

Motivation: Further expansion of business; and he feels that his past leaves him morally obligated to help

History: He was born blind and as such lacked many opportunities for work. His mother disappeared, and while he tried to raise money to find his mother, he was betrayed dozens of times. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.

Motivation: Regain custody of his son; and find a way to reverse the transformation of his sister
