History: Sold as a small child to a slaver, Heward was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. His mother was supposedly a charlatan fortune teller, but he insists his mother was legitimate. He hasn't been sleeping well lately.

Motivation: He has a rivalry with the Church that dominates his actions.

History: Born in a small village he learned the ways of the warrior from his father. Cursed with lycanthropy at a very young age, Gilbert has worked very hard to control his curse. Recently a tribe of dire rats attacked the village and all able bodies who could hold a blade were quickly armed and sent to the walls. Gilbert fought at the side of some of the regions greatest heroes but was never overshadowed.

History: Gomory lived on a farm with his mother, near the main road leading to a nearby town. He couldn't stand his childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with his mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Motivation: Wants to raise his children well; and he has a crush on the local apothecary
