History: He got into the Cartwright business at a young age. He found a children's book about a Human Fighter who fought for good and justice and never realised it was just a child's story. He modeled his life after the story, seeing himself destined a hero. Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by illithids. Gunter was horrified and prayed that his father was alright. However, he heard that his father had died fighting off the illithids.

History: Dean lived on a farm with his father, near the main road leading to a nearby town. Being born in the west, he completed his medical training abroad so as to avoid the war. He returned after the war having achieved medical proficiency. He was a general practitioner in the west for years, until he, through no fault of his own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal he made his way east. He has since lost track of the people in his past.

He was regularly beaten by his mother, who blamed him for driving them apart. He has been a successful dealer in antiques buying low and selling high.
