His family became saddled with debt trying to care for his infirm father. He has built up a small fortune and can afford his own way.

History: A studious child he never was much for a social life, not because he was unlikable, but because he did not seek it out. Roland was born on a far northern mountains where he grew up under the tutelage of his father, an expert Doctor. He left for the north, certain he would find work there.
