He was regularly beaten by his father, who blamed him for driving them apart. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

History: Born in the west to a Baker, Bertram learned a great deal about his father's area of expertise. His family was turned out during the war. He and his family wandered west to less war torn lands. He became a plane-shifter, and is stopping over on this plane for a brief visit.

A notion that was reinforced by his attractiveness, a trait in which he easily excels the other men of his town. In his journeys he found a malevolent artifact.
