History: When he was but 6 years old his parents immigrated from the east. In his 18th year, his parents were killed by a orcs raid, leaving Charles alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He moves from town to town, unable to find a place to settle.

History: Bertram hails from a village terrorized by brigands. He was married off to the eldest child of a minor noble. His spouse died of illness and he inherited everything. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.

Under his leadership it has flourished, and using capital from his venture he effectively owns an entire region. He has gone from town to town till he finds a spot where he can set up a sustainable business.
