History: When he was but 5 years old his parents immigrated from the east. His mother was very strict, and drilled into him lessons on being the perfect gentleman. Some 7 years later his spouse died after the birth of his son. Heartbroken, Bernard never married again. History: His arcane talent manifested at a young age. Aiming to upstage a rival house, his parents had him trained. His parents died when he was young, and he was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Roland grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Roland.
