The goblins captured him, and made him a slave and general play-thing. He was beaten and tortured regularly, leading to his deformed appearance. Through the years after Norman was born, his mother became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the north. Norman's mother didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. He has been a successful dealer in antiques buying low and selling high.
