History: Sold as a small child to a necromancer, Manfred was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. History: He was raised happily, as a normal child born to his father and mother. His father taught him the rudiments of the Mercenary arts, while his mother instructed him in etiquette, music and courtly manner. Through the years after Bertram was born, his father became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the west. Bertram's father didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. After a long history of fighting, Bertram and his spouse have recently divorced.

Personality: He hates brigands. He views them as having robbed his home of its proper glory. He enjoys reading and quiet.

History: He grew up in a lower middle class home, but living comfortably wasn't enough. Because his father participated in the massacre of their homeland, brigands burned their ranch to the ground and forced them out. He was preparing to flee to the north, but the outbreak of war prevented him and his mother from journeying north to reunite his family. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.

History: The child of a Layabout, who enjoyed hunting, Patrick was taken on many hunting expeditions. He made a point of taking high paying jobs and getting most of it up front. He has became unsatisfied with his lot in life, and decided to take up adventuring.

History: Patrick lived on a farm with his mother, near the main road leading to a nearby town. He dropped out of school before completing his studies. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Motivation: To reunite with his absent mother; and to unite with his sister
