His father taught him the rudiments of the Guard arts, while his mother instructed him in etiquette, music and courtly manner. His spouse left him for another, whom he beat to an almost bloody pulp. Personality: Roland is depressed about a lot of things. He tends to be a nihilist. He invented a lineage for himself and claims to be descended from several legendary heroes.

History: He was raised in a desert tribe. A serious injury left his father unemployed and in need of constant care. His family became saddled with debt trying to care for his infirm father. He became a plane-shifter, and is stopping over on this plane for a brief visit.

Motivation: He loathes his own lifestyle; and he feels kind of lost in life

Due to his spouse's obsession with being a Navigator they were divorced and he won custody of their daughter. He worked as a Guard, and he later adopted a second daughter.

History: Born to a Roofer, his mother struggled to pay the bills. As a young adult he joined a group advocating for an improvement in Human conditions. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.
