He did not win them back, but he came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

He went to a religious school and was inspired by the priests there in charitable deeds. He has taken up work as a Guard and fed both sides of the war false information with the goal of increasing casualties.
