Motivation: He's repulsed by the PC; and his name or reputation has been wronged in the past by illithids, and he desires to right it

History: He was born to a pair of big game hunters, but was frequently ill as a child. Before the accident, he was one of the most outspoken anti-Human activists. He was mortally wounded, saved by a kind and fast-acting Human doctor. Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by orcs. Raymond was horrified and prayed that his mother was alright. However, he heard that his mother had died fighting off the orcs.
