This search led him directly into Hunter work with an outfit from a few towns over. Hunter work suited him well, and with each successful project, he earned more gold and more respect from his peers. He eventually got the idea of being the protector of his homeland from reading books, and has made it his duty.

He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to giants demanding more tribute than usual.

Personality: He resents people who mock his appearance or him, so he has learned to be the meanest son of a gun. A true patriot, Miles would do anything for his country. He is fiercely protective of his fellow citizens and foreign allies.

History: He grew up in a lower middle class home, but living comfortably wasn't enough. A serious injury left his father unemployed and in need of constant care. His family became saddled with debt trying to care for his infirm father. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Motivation: To find somewhere to settle down; and he made a deal with a demon which lead to his current lot in life, and he's becoming increasingly nervous about it
