It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. He has done his darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

History: He was born several months after his mother was called into army service. While studying, he fell in love. They married and had a daughter. After a long history of fighting, Guy and his spouse have recently divorced.

Motivation: He feels that his past leaves him morally obligated to help; and he wants nothing more than to rejoin the army

Personality: He is mildly Human supremacist, though he does not identify as such. He is skeptical of what others tell him and is slow to trust.

History: The child of northern immigrants he idolized his father. His family was turned out during the war. He and his family wandered north to less war torn lands. He tends to his Mortician job now, and dutifully fulfills any obligations he has.

Motivation: Balancing his hectic life and new Mortician responsibilities is difficult.

Personality: Stoic and calm, he prefers to meditate than take action. He is frequently practicing swordplay.

History: Henry was born to in a poor docking district. He spent his early days working in the same smith shop his mother was employed at, doing general labor. His mother was a soldier and died while he was still young. Henry was left his mother's suit of armor and trained in its use and care. He has made many enemies by not giving into corruption and outing many instances of it.

Motivation: His religion dominates his actions.

History: He got into the Locksmith business at a young age. He went to a religious school and was inspired by the priests there in charitable deeds. He ran away from his former home and has been making his living as a Locksmith for the past few years.
