History: He was raised happily, as a normal child born to his father and mother. His father taught him the rudiments of the Performer arts, while his mother instructed him in etiquette, music and courtly manner. He was married off to the eldest child of a minor noble. His spouse died of illness and he inherited everything. Some 2 years later his spouse died after the birth of his son. Heartbroken, Richard never married again. Instead he focused his life to raising his son whom he trained as his father had trained him before.

He found his mother impaled in their home, and his father beheaded. He saw the man who walked out, and charged him in a blind rage. The man easily evaded and defeated him, leaving him to live broken and terrified. He moves from town to town, unable to find a place to settle.

He has drifted apart from his friends and has been working freelance. Each gave each other a copy of their signature pickaxe.

When money was particularly tight he was walking through alleys when he overheard a Shepherd hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. He made his way to the other competitor and parlayed his knowledge into a job. He left for the west, certain he would find work there.

Motivation: To get a good night's sleep; and doesn't want to be a shepherd and was forced into it by his family
