History: He was a bastard born out of an affair, and his father always resented and mistreated him for it out of spite. A gifted student he started as a Soapmaker, but he got bored and became a Guard. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.

Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by dire rats. Gerard was horrified and prayed that his father was alright. However, he heard that his father had died fighting off the dire rats.

History: Trained by his father for as long as he can remember he had it drilled in his head that it was his duty to serve his country. His parents were killed by orcs in a raid when he was still a young child. The orcs captured him, and made him a slave and general play-thing.
