History: Gilbert was born into a poor family. Growing up, he dreamt of becoming a Expert, to bring honor to his family’s name. When he came of age, he applied for a position with his town's local guard, looking to work his way up via merit and eventually become a Expert in service of a powerful lord somewhere. He made a point of taking high paying jobs and getting most of it up front. He has dedicated himself to building a better world.

History: He was born several months after his mother was called into army service. His mother was a soldier and died while he was still young. Roland was left his mother's suit of armor and trained in its use and care. After a long history of fighting, Roland and his spouse have recently divorced.

History: Sold as a small child to a wizard, Guy was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. From there he went from mercenary job to mercenary job. He spent several years traveling with his friend, before both settled down to enjoy the fruits of their adventures.
