However, he heard that his mother had died fighting off the brigands.

When he came of age, he joined a caravan that would eventually take him to the capital. He would practice along the way and, when he arrived, be apprenticed to a Navigator. He left for the east, certain he would find work there.

History: Born the oldest of a large religious northern family, he was no stranger to responsibility. His father was supposedly a charlatan fortune teller, but he insists his father was legitimate. He has been a successful dealer in antiques buying low and selling high.

Motivation: He has a rivalry with the Church that dominates his actions.

Personality: He is a melancholic, but persistent worker. He resents family life and as such spurns the advances of admirers. A friendly and beautiful Human, he is rarely seen without a few beauties around his arms. Though a playboy in all rights, he is no lame duck.

History: Heir to a fortune, his parents put a great deal of effort into curing his disease. His mother had invested heavily in several trade routes and wanted him to inherit them. He leaves a trail of broken hearts and full pockets wherever he goes.

Motivation: He uses money and sex appeal to get what he needs; and he has money and likes to spend it

History: Gilbert was born the youngest of three triplets. His spouse left him for another, whom he beat to an almost bloody pulp. He did not win them back, but he came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. He has been saving his money to try and buy his sister's freedom.

Motivation: A deep hatred of dire rats; and marry his sister to traveling adventurers
